Welcome to St. Andrew's C of E Primary School

At St. Andrew's Primary and Early Years Centre we aim to create a happy school with high standards of achievement and behaviour in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.  Our Christian values underpin everything we do and we recognise the strengths of each unique individual.

There has been a school serving the village of Chardstock and the surrounding area since 1712.  Our new school opened in 2009 and provides extensive modern facilities, including a variety of outdoor spaces for playing and learning.

I hope you find the information on our website useful and informative but the best way to get a real feel about us is to come and visit.  You will receive a very warm welcome and we look forward to meeting you.

Jumping for Joy

Year 6 at St. Andrew’s C of E Primary Chardstock are celebrating another set of outstanding SAT’s results.  The class once again achieved 100% level 4 in all areas and amazingly succeeded in reaching 100% level 5 in Maths.  Several children also reached their own target of level 6.  The teachers, staff and governors at the school are all very proud of the children’s hard work.  The photo shows the children jumping for joy.

Green Fingers

The children were delighed to be able to pick some courgettes and marrows from the school allotment.  They were used in the school lunches that were cooked in the school kitchen.  Hopefully next week they will be able to pick a good crop of potatoes.

Enterprise Project

Oak Class (Year 5 /6) were extremely proud to be able to present a cheque for £158.60 to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust recently. The amount represented the profit they made through their spring term enterprise project.

The class formed four companies amongst themselves and were tasked to design and make products which had been recycled, reduced or re-used in some way to sell at the school’s May Fayre. Each company were given a start-up loan of £5 to help with purchasing resources and advertising costs.

The items sold included fairy cake mixes in recycled jars, pencil holders, tea-light holders and mouse pin cushions and profits ranged from approximately £15 to an incredible £80!

The children not only worked very hard to create their items and run successful businesses, but we were also very proud of the way in which they organised their own stalls at the fayre and the commitment they demonstrated to raising money for a charity of their choice.  The photo shows the children presenting a cheque to Tim Hoad from Devon Air Ambulance.
