Welcome to St. Andrew's C of E Primary School

At St. Andrew's Primary and Early Years Centre we aim to create a happy school with high standards of achievement and behaviour in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.  Our Christian values underpin everything we do and we recognise the strengths of each unique individual.

There has been a school serving the village of Chardstock and the surrounding area since 1712.  Our new school opened in 2009 and provides extensive modern facilities, including a variety of outdoor spaces for playing and learning.

I hope you find the information on our website useful and informative but the best way to get a real feel about us is to come and visit.  You will receive a very warm welcome and we look forward to meeting you.

Andrea Rice

Executive Headteacher

Record Amount Collected

The children at St. Andrew's have raised a whopping £1037 for Sport Relief.  Well done to everyone.

Animal Antics

Axe Valley Wildlife Park visited Hazel Class with some very interesting animals.  They were very lucky to meet some sugar gliders, domestic rats, a python, an armadillo and a pole cat.  The children really enjoyed looking at and touching all of the animals but the armadillo was the favourite.  Some of the animals are nocturnal and meeting them will help the children when they start their topic on light and dark after Easter.  Click on the heading to see more pictures.

Fun for Sport Relief

The whole of the school took part in fundraising for Sport Relief and that included the two kitchen staff from Portlocks' Pantry.  They really entered into the spirit of the event and dressed up to join the children as they ran around the school field.  The children were asked to run a mile but some ran even further with the total laps adding up to 2333 which equates to 206 miles!  £450 has so far been raised but this total is likely to change as more money is expected.  Well done to everyone.  Please click on the heading to view more photographs

Goodbye to the students

St Andrew's Primary said a fond farewell to its two trainee teachers today. Miss Croxen and Miss Thomas have been working with the children since November but are now moving onto their next placements. Miss Thomas and her choir group performed songs during worship and both teachers were presented with cards from the children and staff. Everyone wishes them good luck at their next schools.
