Curriculum

Curriculum

We give children a broad and balanced curriculum that provides rich, stimulating learning experiences enhanced through first hand experiences, visits and visitors. We make great use of the local area to tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of the children in our area. We provide a curriculum that develops children academically, physically, socially, and spiritually based in a strong Christian foundation.

We use the National Curriculum programmes of study as the basis for the children’s learning. We follow a rolling programme using a topic based approach that links different areas of the curriculum. Each aspect of the subject is then differentiated to meet the needs of the children. We provide a curriculum map each term showing the learning planned in all aspects of the curriculum.

Summer Term Curriculum Enhancement

  • P.E. Multi-skills - Arsenal Soccer School
  • Music - Irve Griffiths Music
  • Art - Mrs Bowskill

Due to positive feedback from parents and children we will be expanding the curriculum enhancement offered so that all children will receive 2 different enrichment opportunities during their teacher's PPA time. For the Autumn term this will be Thursday afternoon for Reception and KS1 children, and Friday afternoon for KS2 children. Details will be posted here early in the Autumn term.

PE and sport funding

For the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 the Government is providing Primary Schools with additional funding of £8000 + £5 per pupil. This money is ring-fenced and is to be spent on improving physical education and sport. We are currently organising an exciting programme of PE provision to start in September and details will be posted here soon.
